Tips To Enhance Your Energy Levels and Stay Focused

As our lives are getting busier than ever, most of us are finding ourselves tired and totally drained. Raise your hand if you feel the same!

Unfortunately, the tiredness we are experiencing is related to our lifestyle. But the fortunate thing is that a lot can be done to boost your energy levels. Let’s look at the ways to change your lifestyle for boosting energy levels naturally:

Go Outdoors

Get outside and let your skin and eyes taste sunlight. This natural dose of vitamin D is a real energy booster. Naturally, we have more energy during the daytime. So get your body exposed to sunlight to experience a boost of energy.

While at work, if you feel tired, take a short break and go outside. Make it a practice to go outdoors in the daytime on the weekends as well. I was guilty of spending Sundays in bed watching TV after signing up for one of the Spectrum offers. This routine made me so lazy, and fatigued that I finally had to force myself to go outside and spend the daytime under the sun. This improved my energy levels significantly.

Eat the Right Food for an Energy Boost

Start eating food with a low glycemic index such as high fiber veggies, healthy oils, nuts, whole grains, olive oil, etc. These are the types of foods with slow sugar absorption quality. This will help avoid the energy lag that normally occurs when foods with refined starch are consumed.

Declutter Your Mind

An easy way to lose concentration is having a cluttered mind. In the modern world, we receive information in seconds which can cause an information overload.

To help declutter, take notes, keep a calendar, set reminders, and delegate. For instance, if you have a meeting, put it in the calendar so that you won’t have to remember it. 

Move More

Regular exercise is not just important for staying away from chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart diseases, but it is also great for an energy boost. I know I know, when you are tired, getting up and moving your body is often the last thing you would want to do. Luckily, there is no need for an intensive workout to feel energized. You can reduce tiredness and unexplained fatigue by regularly participating in low-intensity cycling.

There is a study that suggests going for a 10-minute walk when you are feeling tired is superior to having a snack. It will make you feel so much better!

Manage Your Sleep

Getting enough sleep will give you an automatic boost of energy. My advice is to determine how to sleep you exactly need to reduce the time spent in bed waiting to doze off. This process will make you fall asleep faster so that you enjoy a restful sleep.

If you have trouble falling asleep at the time, here is what you must do:

  • Avoid taking naps during the day
  • Go to bed later than you normally do
  • If you have slept well during the night, add another 15 to 30 minutes of sleep the next night

Meditate

Meditation is a great way of boosting mental energy. It makes you conscious of mind and breath. The goal of meditation is to be in the present and forget about the past and future. Allow your thoughts to flow freely and notice your thoughts, body, and emotions.

Play a Sport 

There is an old paradox that to increase energy, put it to use. This fact is scientifically proven. Physical activity supplies cells with oxygen, releases toxins, and improves muscle mass. This serves as a significant energy boost.

Make some time for sports – basketball, tennis or a run. You will feel accomplished and these positive emotions will jack you up with energy.

Limit Alcohol

Drinking is one of those habits that can make you feel tired. If you can’t cut alcohol from your life completely, then at the very least, don’t drink before bedtime. Plus, drinking will make you get up in the night to pee, which will disturb your sleep.

Whenever you are enjoying a drink, drink within the recommended guidelines.

Stay Hydrated

Dehydration can affect the brain’s function and your mood and energy. So, make sure you drink as much water as possible.
