How to choose the perfect headphones:

Choosing the perfect headphones that can fit inside or over your ears can be very difficult. While most people go for over ear headphones, some people like earplug headphones and other people would like Bluetooth ear plugs wireless.

But no matter which type of head phones you like or would feel comfortable with, there are a few things that you must ensure in order to get the best experience out of any headphone or ear plugs.

Firstly, there are many types of headphone available in the market and you need to be sure of the features they provide. Only then you will be able to select a headphone which matches your needs.

Here are the main types of headphones available in the market. You can choose from any of these according to your choice and requirements.

  1. In-ear earphones:

There are two kinds of in-ear earphones. One that is inserted or stuffed into the ear canals and other that sit at the peripherals of ear cavities. Both of these headphones have their pros and cons.

The first headphones that look like earplugs provide a very clear sound with a high volume as they are stuffed inside the ear cavity, yet they can also cause extreme discomfort and pain. If these ear plugs are too big for your ears, they can be hard to wear for long times and they can also cause immense pressure on the ear folding.

The second kind of headphones have silicon tips. These headphones are usually made of plastic. These ear plugs don’t penetrate your ear cavity and don’t result in the constant pain, yet they have their own problems. If the ear buds don’t fit you right, it can be very painful. The second problem that these ear plugs have is that they can fall out of the ear if their size is too big or small. For some people, just to stuff an ear plug in the ear canal can be very discomforting.

  1. Over-ear headphones:

These headphones are referred to as head phones as they come with over ear head bands that can be worn over head. They are also available in two kinds; one type is that which is pressed against your ears and the other kind encloses the ear, you can also say worn over ears.

The first type of headphones are lightweight and are ideal for small head and ears. These headphones disguised as ear plugs are very easy to carry.

The second type of ear plugs are available in both heavy and light weight versions, yet the lightweight ones may not be available for people with big heads.

The lightweight headphones may not have thick padding but they will not hurt your ears if you wear them for a long time. Another things that you need to consider is that it might happen that in headphones that are lighter in weight, there may not be a large size available so if you have big ears, they will not cover your ears fully.

For men, the best type of headphones are over ear headphones which come in large size with heavy padding that can cover your ears easily. The heavy padding is soft so that you can wear them for long period of time.

Both of these head phones are ideal for watching videos or working as they cancel outside noise just like earmuffs. The pressure they put on your ears is just enough to keep you relaxed and mot make you go bald or get tired by wearing them. You can choose headphones that have adjustable head bands.

  1. Wireless headphones:

Wireless headphones are mostly available in Bluetooth ear plugs or wireless Bluetooth earbuds that look like earplugs. If you mostly use your headphones with portable devices such as laptop or mobile phone, then you should probably use Bluetooth headphones. These type of headphones are perfect if you like to use earphones while exercising.

In simplest words, when there is mobility involved with using headphones, you must say yes to wireless headphones or Bluetooth headphones.

Most of wireless headsets don’t provide that amazing sound quality which is otherwise provided by wired headphones, as these have wireless system in them. The wireless technology varies in each brand so the wireless coverage varies too in each wireless head phone.

Yet a benefit of wireless headsets is that you are not bound to sit in one place and you can use these earphones from anywhere. You are not also connected to the phone or computer with wired headphones and this allows you to have more freedom to walk while listening to a call or music.

With wireless headsets, you do not get the tangled wires problem and you can control the headphone functions easily with the touch sensors on the ear buds easily too.

Ear phone specifications:

There are many specifications available in headphones, from wireless technology to magnet system. These specifications often provide certain advance features to the headphones and they can cost high or low with the accordance of these features.

Let’s check these features so that you are aware of the features which make these headphones great.

When you see ear phone specifications, acoustic refers to the design of the earphones. If you want an ear phone which blocks any outside noise and reduces the sound disturbance while you are playing a game or listening to a call, you will need a headphone with a closed acoustic system.

On the other hand, an open acoustic system doesn’t block the outside noise and you can easily hear the voices and activities going on in your surroundings.

Some closed acoustic systems don’t always block the outside noise fully and can only reduce it to a certain level. If the volume is too high while you are using your headphones, the people around you can also hear the sounds from your headphones. Only a very good closed acoustic headphones can stop the outside noise from disturbing you.

  1. Frequency response:

This feature refers to the frequency range your headphones can cover. The bigger the frequency range of your headphones, the better will be the results of the sound.

Some headphones can cover the frequency range of 4-24,000 HZ, while others can go from 5-24,000 Hz. The headphones covering a frequency range from the lowest to biggest amount is usually the best and can be more expensive.

  1. Sensitivity:

Sensitivity is generally measured in dB/ mW. This value calculates how much sound the earphone can produce for 1 mili-watt of the electrical signal in decibels.

Headphones with higher sensitivity provide higher sounds. The range of earphone sensitivity value is normally from 80 to 110 Db.

  1. Wireless technology:

There are many wireless technologies available in the headphones, which are as followed;

Bluetooth:

The most commonly used wireless technology in headphones is Bluetooth wireless technology. A Bluetooth enabled headphone can be paired up with any device which supports Bluetooth in a range of 10 meters radius.

NFC:

NFC or near field communication is another wireless connection. You might see NFC in your mobile devices and you can also see that there is NFC connectivity option available in your headsets.

The NFC connectivity is very easy and that is why it is the best wireless connectivity feature available in a phone or headphone device. You just have to tap the two devices together and NFC enabled devices will be connected.

RF:

Radio frequency earphones work with a radio frequency which can cover a wider range than Bluetooth. There is a transmitter with these type of ear phones, into which you will plug the audio device. The transmitted audio will be received by the earphones and you will be able to hear the sound.

Infrared:

This is another type of connectivity. This one has gotten a bit old. You need to be In line of sight for this type of connection to work.

Noise cancellation headphones block out any of the noise which might be very loud in your surroundings. These headphones use technology that takes sound from the surrounding and cancels it out fully while playing the sound in the system that you have connected it to.
