Since time immemorial, steel wheels had occupied space in the automotive world. However, pats many years alloy wheels have also pressed their feet to firm into the industry and many people like to go for them today. They certainly have some extra bonus points attached with them. That’s why they’ve become a rage among the users today.

But before you plunge into taking a decision, you must know the pros and cons of these Speedline alloy wheels and that’s what we’re going to do here.

Alloy wheels - What are they?

Alloy is basically said to be a mixture of metals and other elements. As the name suggests, these wheels are made with the alloy of aluminium and magnesium. At times, they are only made with magnesium. In that case, they are also called ‘mag wheels’. With only magnesium in the wheels, they are most suited for sports vehicles as they give high-performance on the roads.

Today, most car manufacturers offer alloy wheels with their vehicles. It’s quite natural that they have various benefits which the customers like to avail.

Merits of alloy wheels

    Aesthetic appearance

This is one of the biggest reasons why people like to go for alloy wheels. These wheels take the look of your car a notch higher. They can be pointed out from a distance.

    Lighter in weight

Alloy wheels are lighter in weight than their steel counterparts. Such wheels consume less fuel. There’s a simple logic behind this. Lighter objects need less force to move. That’s why people like to go for these wheels.

   Give strength to the engine

Low weight in the vehicle means less pressure on the engine. Therefore, the performance of your engine improves tremendously. Though steel wheels also aren’t that bad at this, it’s just that alloy wheels are better than them in this aspect.

   Can resist heat

It’s a well-known fact that alloys can resist heat better. When wheels run on the roads at high speed, friction gets created and this also generates heat.

There are a few downsides also of using these tyres.

Demerits of alloy wheels

    Expensive to buy

The manufacturing process of car alloy wheels is quite complicated. That’s why they are expensive to fix for your car. However, if you can still afford them, then go for them audaciously.

    Less durable than steel wheels

While these wheels enhance the cosmetic appearance of your car, they aren’t that durable as steel wheels. They can break easily and repair of such wheels is also not possible. In case of any damage, you’ll have to replace them with new ones. That means you’ll have to bear a heavy cost for them.

What should one choose?

Choosing alloy wheels is totally your prerogative. Having known the pros and cons here, you can make an informed choice and see what’s best for you. If durability is the criteria, you can avoid alloy wheels. However, if looks are your first priority, then go for alloy wheels.
